Swansea City director John van Zweden believes that by selling Wilfried Bony to Manchester City, his goalscoring talents will be wasted because he will often be sitting on the bench, Mirror reports.
The 26-year-old only completed his £30million move to the Etihad ahead of the African Cup of Nations and is currently featuring for the Ivory Coast at the tournament.
However, Van Zweden believes that as long as Sergio Aguero is fit, Bony will be spending most of him time on the sidelines waiting for a chance to prove his worth.
“We will miss the goals from Wilfried Bony a lot. The most frustrating thing is that he will sit on the Manchester City bench.”
“For Sergio Aguero remains their main striker. I’d personally love Wilfried to be at the heart of a top club like City.”
Although he admits to accepting the move, he prefers the striker to be the first choice selection upon the completion of his big money switch to the current Premier League champions.
Apart from the former Swansea man, club and international teammate Yaya Toure is also featuring at the tournament with the pair able to return and help their side if Ivory Coast gets knocked out by Cameroon in two days time.
