Swansea deal “all but agreed” for Spanish striker

Swansea are close to signing Fernando Llorente according to the Daily Star, just days after his brother and agent ruled out a move.

Llorente was said to be staying put at Sevilla, but now the former Juventus forward is closing in on a switch to the Premier League, with the paper suggesting a £5million fee has all but been agreed between the two clubs.

Alberto Paloschi, Eder and Bafetimbi Gomis have all departed the Liberty Stadium this summer, leaving Andre Ayew as the only potential forward, although it’s not his usual position. Both he and Gylfi Sigurdsson often shared the false-9 role last campaign.

It’s been a frustrated chase for Llorente, but chairman Huw Jenkins is keen to add players to his squad this summer:

“It was always going to be the case after the Euros that a lot of the transfer business would be done later than normal,” said Jenkins.

“But we fully expect to make one or two additions in the next few days. We have worked hard in the summer to change things around for the forthcoming season.”

The 31-year-old scored 4 league goals for Sevilla last season, and hasn’t netted double figures since the 2013-14 season.
