Swansea sign Australian goalkeeper

Swansea City have confirmed the signing of Mark Birighitti on their official website.

The Goalkeeper, who has made one international appearance for the Socceroos, has joined on a free transfer, signing a 2-year contract.

Brighitti made 26 A-League appearances last season for the Newcastle Jets, as the club finished 8th in the 10 team table. The 25-year-old kept 3 clean sheets.

Swansea boss Francesco Guidolin has decided to add to his goalkeeping options, despite already having three shot stoppers already on his books. Lukasz Fabianski, Kristoffer Nordfeldt and Gerhard Tremmel are already in the Swans’ squad.

The Aussie has played for his national team at youth levels, and was an unused substitute when Austrlia faced England in a friendly ahead of EURO 2016.

Birighitti joins Mike van der Hoorn in joining the Welsh club this summer, whilst Leroy Fer has completed a permanent move to the Liberty Stadium, after spending the second half the season with the club on loan last year.
