Swansea City are on the verge of signing Atletico Madrid forward Borja Baston, according to BBC Sport.
The Liberty Stadium outfit have been in the market for attacking players after the departures in recent times of Alberto Paloschi, Eder and Bafetimbi Gomis.
Francesco Guidolin’s men have swooped to land Spanish star Fernando Llorente and it appears only a matter of time before the number nine is joined by one of his compatriots.
Baston is a youth product of the Atletico system but has spent his time out on loan elsewhere over recent seasons.
A goal-laden campaign at Elche last term has thrown the gifted forward into the spotlight and Guidolin admitted that a deal to bring a second Spaniard to South Wales was almost completed.
“I think it is close. I think it is imminent,” the Italian trainer said.
“I was happy with the squad before but I am more happy now because, with Fernando Llorente and Borja Baston, I think we have signed two good players, two very important players.”
Swansea are expected to sell Andre Ayew to West Ham in a £20 million deal once Baston’s purchase is assured, with a new-look attack for the Liberty Stadium side in 2016-17.
