Carlos Tevez has stoked up the ill-feeling surrounding Wednesday's derby after claiming he is now at the right club with Manchester City.

Tevez left Manchester United to join City last summer in a controversial transfer after deciding to sever his ties with the Old Trafford club following a two-year loan spell.

The Argentina striker then became embroiled in a public spat with United captain Gary Neville after scoring both goals in City's 2-1 Carling Cup semi-final first leg victory at Eastlands last week.

The 25-year-old striker is likely to receive a hostile welcome when he returns to Old Trafford for the second leg on Wednesday night.

However, Tevez claims his decision to make the move has been vindicated by his red-hot form for City this season, where he has scored 17 goals in 26 games.

"The welcome I received from the moment I arrived at City has been very special. I was made to feel loved and this means a lot to any footballer," he told the Daily Mirror.

"I feel I've shown I'm at the right club now. Everyone knows how important the fans are at this club and, if I make them happy, it's an honour.

"I think the United fans know I tried hard. City is my club now, a place where I feel part of everything.

"Maybe this wasn't always the way at United."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
