Stoke City goalkeeper Thomas Sorensen is hoping to be fit for Saturday's Premier League trip to Bolton Wanderers.

Sorensen will sit out Denmark's Euro 2012 qualifier with Cyprus on Tuesday night with a hip problem.

The 34-year-old picked up the muscle injury during Friday's 2-1 defeat to Portugal.

However, the experienced keeper believes he could be fit for Saturday's trip to the Reebok Stadium.

"It is a small tear in the hip area and an ultrasound scan showed there was some bleeding," he explained.

"I'm walking all right, but it's the explosive work, like kicking and sprinting, which is a problem.

"The doctor in Denmark told me this injury usually lasts a week so there shouldn't be a problem for the weekend.

"It was a difficult decision to come home, but you cannot gamble on this sort of thing. I know I have made the right decision."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
