Liverpool have been boosted by the news that three players are recovering from injury problems ahead of the Reds Premier League clash against Aston Villa, Daily Star reports.
Daniel Sturridge, Glen Johnson, and Adam Lallana are set to return in the following weeks after sustaining respective injuries, which will aid the Reds’ ambition of Champions League football.
Sturridge has been sidelined since August, but manager Brendan Rodgers has confirmed the England international is back in training with the first team.
Lallana is also set to return sooner than expected after sustaining a calf problem, while Glen Johnson’s groin injury is drastically improving.
However, it is Sturridge’s imminent return that will be the biggest boost for the Reds, as the striker was a vital part in Liverpool’s runners-up finish last season with 25 goals.
But although he is not yet 100% ready, Rodgers believes that he is fairly close.
“He’s obviously not ready to play as of yet, but he’s working well, so hopefully in the near future he’ll be ready,” Rodgers said.
“We just want him fit and there’s no timeline on that as such.”
