Hull City midfielder Stephen Hunt could miss the final few games of the season as he requires exploratory surgery on a foot injury.

The 28-year-old Republic of Ireland winger has not played since mid-February and now seems unlikely to feature again this season, as the Tigers battle to stave off the threat of relegation from the Premier League.

Tigers boss Iain Dowie told the Hull Daily Mail:"He's got a sharp pain in his foot again and we need to have a look at it in an operation.

"If he needs a procedure then it's going to be a lot longer, but if everything is fine and we can move on, it might not be that long.

"We should get a bit of clarity on Tuesday morning."

Hunt joined the Tigers from Reading last summer and has scored six times in 27 appearances this season.Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
