Stoke City midfielder Michael Tonge admits he expects to be heading out of the club, after reports linked him with a transfer to Cardiff City.
The 27-year-old former Sheffield United star has failed to impress during his two-season stay the Britannia Stadium and was loaned out to Preston North End and Derby County last term.
He has started only four matches for the Potters and was linked with a transfer to the Bluebirds last season.
However, Tonge, who still has two years left on his contract, said:"I'm in a bit of a strange situation, but I'll be at Stoke getting fit for the new season and will speak to the manager.
"It was good just to be playing when I went to Derby last season. I'd like to be playing again this season, but it looks as though it might be elsewhere. I'm not complaining about that, just being realistic.
"I'm certainly not sulking about my situation. From my point of view, I want to get fit for the new season and see what happens.
"Having been at Derby last season, I know they were interested in doing something again for this time. But I think that was another loan."
