Manchester United target Kevin Strootman revealed that he is unlikely to leave Roma while also hinting that he would love to play for a club like Real Madrid or Barcelona, Metro reports.
The 24-year-old midfielder was linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer and was also tipped to complete his switch this month despite the fact that the Serie A giants were said to reject any deals.
Strootman said: “I absolutely do not see Roma as just an intermediate step in my career.
“But I do think a player who performs well here will get to the absolute top quicker.”
The former PSV Eindhoven man also added that every player wants a chance to join a either Barca or Real, but he lost the chance because most scouts don’t come to his league.
“Of course everybody wants to play for Barcelona or Real Madrid, but they don’t come looking for you so quickly in the Eredivisie.
“‘There are odd exceptions, but in general their scouts tend to look around at higher levels.”
