Torres wants to know Anfield truth

Striker Fernando Torres wants to know the 'real situation at Liverpool' when he returns to Anfield following the World Cup.

The Spain striker has been linked with a British transfer record £50million move to Chelsea with the Reds currently up for sale and beset by financial difficulties.

Torres has continually pledged his future to the Merseyside club and last week welcomed the appointment of Roy Hodgson as the successor to compatriot and former boss Rafael Benitez.

However, Torres has revealed that he will hold talks with senior club officials following the World Cup in order to discover exactly what is going on at Anfield.

"I suppose that when the World Cup finishes I will speak to the people at Liverpool and they will explain to me the real situation of how things are at present, the future of the club – and I will talk to the new coach," he told El Mundo Deportivo.

"I want to finish the World Cup, go on holiday, as I haven't had a holiday for three years, rest and then there will be time to talk about all of that.

"The situation isn't going to change whether we talk soon or later."
