Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has urged fans to stay calm in regards to emerging young star Dele Alli, according to reports from the International Business Times.
Alli was signed from Milton Keynes Dons during the January window last season, but remained with the then League One side until the end of the campaign before moving to White Hart Lane.
However, the 19-year-old has been pushed into the first team by Pochettino and hasn’t looked back, going on to play a total of 12 league games for the Lilywhites so far this term.
But during Spurs’ 4-1 thrashing of West Ham United, the starlet picked up his fifth yellow card in English competitions this season, meaning that he is suspended for their London derby clash against Chelsea this coming Sunday.
And Pochettino has urged the fans to stay calm and not put too much weight on Alli’s shoulders, and that they should give him time to get more experience over the course of the campaign.
“He is young, he has played 10 or 12 games,” said Pochettino. “He is just 19 years old, he is just starting for England. We need to stay calm with him.”
“He has a strong character, his fight is there, but he needs to be calm and that is an example. He needs to improve but he is getting the experience. Next time he will learn from it.”
