Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed the contract termination by mutual consent for Emmanuel Adebayor, according to reports from the Express.
The 31-year-old is now a free agent after he was excluded from manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans for the current campaign.
It was believed that Adebayor was urging the club to trigger his £5million pay-out in order to free up his deal at White Hart Lane despite have another year left on his contract.
Tottenham have released a statement wishing the player well on his future, but have not revealed any further details on the termination of their now former striker.
However, with the Hammers unwilling to meet the wage demands of the player, Villa could reignite interest in the forward to sign him on a free transfer.
He featured a total of 59 times for Spurs since joining from Manchester City back in 2012, scoring a total of 18 goals.
