Tottenham’s pre-season preparations have been dealt a blow, as it has been revealed that midfielder Sandro is to undergo surgery following a knee injury.
The ex-Internacional player was on duty for Brazil at the Copa America, but is now set to go under the knife after rupturing the meniscus in his right knee.
“It is a problem that I have been feeling for some time,” the 22-year-old told the UOL Esporte website.
“It has been troubling me more recently because it has stopped me practicing. The examination found that I have to have surgery. Unfortunately for me the injury happened now, at an important moment of my career. But I will have the surgery and try to recover soon,” he stated.
The injury will mean the South American is a doubt for Spurs’ Premier League opener on August 13th against Everton at White Hart Lane.
