Tottenham Hotspur are set to sell Federico Fazio this January, with a return to Sevilla on the cards, according to reports from the Mirror.
Fazio only signed for Spurs back in the summer of 2014, but he has failed to impress for the Lilywhites and is in advanced negotiations with former club Sevilla in regards to a transfer.
However, his exit could mean that another under-used defender in Kevin Wimmer will not be able to make a loan move despite interest from the likes of Ligue-1 side Marseille and Bundesliga club Stuttgart.
Wimmer, who arrived last summer from Cologne, has yet to feature in the English top flight this season, but Fazio’s exit means that the Austria international will be pushed up the pecking order and act as back-up for the first-team.
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is hoping that his side will be able to challenge in the league as well as in cup competitions, and wants to have a big squad in order to do so.
