Tottenham Hotspur star dropped

Roberto Soldado

Tottenham Hotspur striker Roberto Soldado has been dropped by Spain boss Vicente del Bosque for their final World Cup qualifiers against Belarus and Georgia, as reported by the Daily Mirror.

Soldado has netted just twice so far this season for Spurs since his summer switch from Valencia and despite Fernando Torres missing out with injury, the 28 year old has not been included.

The Spurs hitman has been Spain’s main striker in recent months but Soldado’s World Cup hopes may be in tatters unless he finds his scoring boots and fast.

Chelsea winger Juan Mata has been selected in the squad and the out of favour Blues midfield man is one of just five England-based players in the 23 man squad.

Soldado, Mata and Torres are all facing a battle to make the squad for the World Cup in Brazil next summer, a tournament that could be their last chances to win another major honour for their country.
