Danny Rose may not have many supporters among the Tottenham Hotspur faithful right now following his controversial claims in a newspaper interview.
While speaking to The Sun, the England international criticised the club’s wage structure and questioned their ambition.
Rumours were already circulating that Rose was considering a move away but after his comments, the speculation intensified.
The 27-year-old made no secret of the fact that he would one day like to return to the North West to be closer to his family, amid earlier reports by the Daily Star that Manchester United were considering a move.
According to The Independent, talks will be held this week between Tottenham and Rose to establish where each party stands with regards to a transfer.
The betting market seems to think that the left-back will stay at the North London outfit, with Sky Bet shortening its odds to 1/3 on the Englishman remaining part of the squad by the time the window shuts next week.
Losing another first-team player could be detrimental to Spurs given that they have already allowed right-back Kyle Walker to leave the club.
Rose has been out of action since January due to a knee injury and it is unsure when he will be fit enough to return to Mauricio Pochettino’s team.
Ben Davies is currently occupying the left-back position, which means that Rose may have a fight on his hands to win back his place.
