Tottenham manager refutes Barcelona link

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has dismissed reports linking him with the vacant manager’s role at Barcelona, as reported by Sky Sports.

Former Barca boss Tito Villanova was forced to step down at the Catalan club following a brave battle with cancer over the past year and Villas-Boas agrees that the 44-year-olds health is the most important thing.

Villas-Boas is amongst the favourites to be offered the job but the Portuguese boss is solely focused on Tottenham and getting the North London club ready for the new season.

The Tottenham manager refused to speak about his interest in the vacant job that would surely be too hard for any boss in world football to turn down right now.

Villas-Boas sent his well wishes to Vilanova after Tottenham’s poor goalless draw with Colchester last night.

“It’s a difficult situation,” Villas-Boas said.

“At this time, all my wishes are with Tito. If he has to resign over illness, it’s not the time to speak about speculation.

“We’re speaking about a person’s health, it’s not even a question.”
