Tottenham manager remains calm on title chances despite encouraging results

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino is remaining calm on his team’s title chances despite the weekend’s results going his way.

The club are only trailing behind first place Leicester City by two points as they look to pick up their first ever Premier League title in their history.

Spurs came from behind to beat Swansea City yesterday, while title contenders Arsenal, who were level on points with them heading to the weekend, lost against Manchester United 3-2.

However, Pochettino admitted that all of his players aren’t talking about their title chances as they are only aiming to win every game onwards without thinking about the outcome.

“I think nobody speaks about that in our dressing room,” he told Sky Sports.

“We believe we can win every game and we’ll see what happens at the end of the season.

“Our mentality is to look to the next game and go step by step. Now, we need to focus again. We have a strong squad and we will try to manage it in the right way.

“For me, it is not important (that Arsenal lost). What is important is our own performance and there are still 11 Premier League games ahead.”

His side will face West Ham United in midweek before hosting the Gunners in a match that could eventually decide their opponent’s title chances.

Spurs are currently on a run of good form as their victory over the Swans marked their sixth consecutive league win.
