Tottenham midfielder set for transfer switch to North-East

Tom Huddlestone

Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio is set to continue his summer spending at Sunderland snapping up Tottenham midfielder Tom Huddlestone, according to the Express.

The 26 year old still has plans to push his way back into the England squad and so needs to play first team football; which he would get at the Stadium of Light; especially with a World Cup coming at the end of this season.

The former Wolves man has seen his time at Tottenham slip in recent seasons and is now behind the likes of Paulinho, Moussa Dembele, Sandro and Scott Parker in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

Spurs are looking to shift a few squad players this summer and would want just £5million for the England international who needs to revive his career.

Di Canio celebrated his birthday this week with his sixth summer signing but the Italian is still not happy that with his squad and wants Huddlestone to sure up his midfield.
