Tottenham Hotspurs are monitoring River Plate striker Teofilo Gutierrez, sending scouts to Argentina to watch him in action last weekend, Mirror reports.
The Colombian ace featured in the summer World Cup, scoring one goal against Greece but since then has been in amazing form for River Plate in the Argentina Primera Division, scoring 10 goals in just 12 appearances.
Gutierrez’s displays have captured the eyes of Tottenham, with sources suggesting that the 29-year-old will be available for around £5million.
Spurs have been unable to find a regular source of goals due to the struggles of strikers Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado, and seem set to finally move on to sign a replacement.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino hasn’t had the best of starts to life at White Hart Lane and after 11 Premier League fixtures, seems set to allow Adebayor as well as midfielder Mousa Dembele depart this winter.
This would bring in additional funds for Pochettino, who could then turn to make a formal offer for Teo Gutierrez.
