Tottenham name price tag for sought after striker

Tottenham forward Jermain Defoe

Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas will allow striker Jermain Defoe to leave White Hart Lane this summer should his £6million price tag be met, according to the Daily Mail.

Spurs are set to offload a number of first team players as Gareth Bale’s proposed move to Real Madrid has stalled and so will not be able to fund the £50million already spent this summer, along with more work in the transfer market that Villas-Boas wants to do.

Queens Park Rangers made an enquiry to sign the England striker last week but Premier League clubs such as West Ham, Everton, Liverpool and Sunderland could all pounce before the transfer window slams shut.

Spurs are also set to allow the likes of Tom Huddlestone, Scott Parker, Emmanuel Adebayor and Andros Townsend to leave the club in the next few weeks to trim the rapidly increasing wage bill and set some money away for future transfers.
