Tottenham playing waiting game for Roma ace

Argentine winger Lamela

Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas Boas is waiting for Roma to sign a replacement for winger Erik Lamela before the 21 year old moves to White Hart Lane, according to the Mail on Sunday.

Roma are not prepared to let Lemela leave until they have secured a replacement and so Spurs are having to wait until they announce the signing and get the pacey wide man in their squad.

The Argentinean international is seen as a natural replacement for the departing Gareth Bale who is set to complete his move to Real Madrid any day now.

Tottenham have agreed a £25million deal to sign Lamela which will take their summer spending above £80million and so cancelling out the sale of Bale.

Tottenham’s wage bill has massively increased this summer too and so a number of squad players may be shown the exit door with Jermain Defoe and Benoit Assou Ekotto expected to be the first out.
