Tottenham put price tag on strikers head

Jermain Defoe

Tottenham Hotspur are willing to sell striker Jermain Defoe in January but only for the right price, according to the Times.

Defoe has failed to make much of an impact in the Premier League with his only start coming in Spurs’ 3-0 home defeat at the hands of London rivals West Ham.

The Hammers themselves have been linked with a move for their former academy graduate who featured for England during the recent international break.

However, Defoe is concerned that his lack of game time at White Hart Lane could affect his chances of being on the plane to Brazil next summer with a host of strikers challenging his fragile spot in Roy Hodgson’s squad.

Tottenham are prepared to listen to offers for the 31 year old but are expected to hold out for at least £6.5million in order to reinvest the money in at least one more forward.

Queens Park Rangers have also shown an interest in Defoe but the England man wants to stay in the Premier League and knows this next move could be his last.
