Tottenham set to be offered player exchange for Modric

Real Madrid are ready to offer Nuri Sahin as part of a deal to sign Tottenham playmaker Luka Modric according to The Daily Mail.

Turkish International Sahin has failed to cement a regular first team place at the Bernabau and although he is not desperate to leave Spain, the midfielder who only joined Madrid last year is thought to be part of a cash plus player deal that Jose Mourinho is ready to offer Spurs in exchange for Modric.

The want away Croatian is currently on holiday after his country’s early exit from Euro 2012 but it is thought that he will return to White Hart Lane with the express intent of leaving.

A bidding war is set to erupt between Madrid, Chelsea and Man United for the 26-year old but it is thought that the Spanish giants will be the only team willing to go anywhere near Tottenham’s £40 million valuation of their star man.

Spurs, who have been without a manager since the departure of Redknapp, have tied in-form Gareth Bale to a long term contract but it is thought that Modric will be eager to leave. The money received from the sale of the Croatian will give Tottenham and their unknown new manager room to move in the transfer market.

The Mail are also reporting that Ricardo Carvalho could be offered as part of a deal for Modric, if an offer involving Nuri Sahin fails to materialise.
