Tottenham set to beat Arsenal to sign Romanian

Ciprian Marica

Tottenham are set to sign Arsenal and West Ham target Ciprian Marica on a free transfer next week, according to the Daily Mirror.

Spurs have snuck in at the final stages of negotiations to hijack the deal that will do nothing to reduce their inflated wage structure with the Romanian wanting £60k a week at White Hart Lane.

Marica will not be the only new boy to destroy their usually tight wage bill with numerous new signings this summer taking Spurs to financial places that they haven’t been before.

Despite that, Andre Villas Boas will be delighted to have beat off interest from London rivals West Ham and Arsenal to get his man with just two first team strikers currently in his mind.

Emmanuel Adebayor is well out of favour with the manager and youngster Harry Kane is also set to be loaned out, leaving Robert Soldado along with Jermain Defoe to take on the mantle and replace Gareth Bale’s goals at the club as they visit Cardiff City today.
