Tottenham Hotspur attacker Erik Lamela has dismissed talk that he is set to move back to Italy and insists he is happy at the North London club.
The Argentina international had a poor first season at White Hart Lane due to injuries but improved considerable in 2015-16 and played an important role in Spurs finishing third last season.
Lamela has been consistently spoken about as a target for Inter Milan, with the South American’s reputation in Italy high after an excellent spell with Roma.
Despite the speculation over the Argentine’s future, Lamela has stated that he is committed to Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
“Ever since I came to Tottenham I’ve heard that I am supposed to be leaving,” The Daily Mail quote him as saying.
“It is the same every summer. I do not know why.
“Even when things did not go as planned at the start, I never thought about leaving.”
Lamela was brought to White Hart Lane as one of the players bought with the Gareth Bale money and along with Christian Eriksen has been the only real success.
The South American attacking midfielder has been in excellent form in pre-season and will surely play an important role again for Spurs in 2016-17.
