The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a summer switch to Tottenham but recent reports have now suggested that he would consider a move to France.
Marseille would be a likely destination if he does choose Le Championnat but Anigo says that although the club are monitoring his situation, they are more concerned with strengthening other areas of the squad, especially given the striker’s huge price tag.
“Leandro Damiao? We know him very well, but there are financial aspects we cannot ignore,” he told L’Equipe. “We are following him but it is too expensive so far.
“On a financial level we will be more at ease than last season, but we didn’t win the lottery. Our priority is to try to sign French players. We need some youthfulness in the group, players with big desire to win titles.”
