Tottenham Hotspur have issued a hands-off warning to Inter Milan amid links that they were keen on signing Jan Vertonghen, Daily Star reports.
The 28-year-old was said to be the subject of a scouting mission from Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio, who watched the defender during his 2-1 Europa League win over Anderlecht last week.
However, Spurs are not likely to part ways with their star centre-back given that he only signed a new contract ahead of the current campaign.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino has put a lot of faith in the Belgium international this season and only recently named him as the squad’s vice-captain.
He still has another three years remaining on his current deal and has been on great form given his centre-back pairing with fellow countryman Toby Alderweireld.
Apart from Inter, Napoli and Barcelona were also linked with the player during the summer, but it is likely that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will only part ways with the defender if a huge fee is offered.
