Tottenham are set to make an effort to keep Hugo Lloris at the club by making the superstar goalkeeper the new captain of the team, The Daily Mail report.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, with the Red Devils facing a tough task to keep David De Gea at Old Trafford.
However, with talk of the Spaniard returning to his homeland dissipating in recent weeks and Louis van Gaal’s men linked with other stoppers, Spurs are hopeful that Lloris will be at White Hart Lane for 2015-16.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men are in need of a new club captain following the sale of Younes Kaboul to Sunderland and are set to hand the honour to the former Lyon custodian.
The report insinuates that this will show Lloris just how highly rated he is in North London and could convince the stopper to stay with Spurs.
Harry Kane, who captained the side against Burnley last season, is set to be Lloris’ deputy in a new look duo leading the club forward.
