Tottenham weigh up summer move

James McCarthy

Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas is hoping to secure a deal to bring Wigan midfielder James McCarthy to White Hart Lane this summer, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Republic of Ireland international starred as Wigan triumphed in the FA Cup final yesterday at Wembley but the Latics are still on the verge of relegation.

Wigan need to realistically win both of their remaining fixtures to stay a Premier League club and they travel to Arsenal in midweek.

McCarthy has been impressive all season long in the middle of the park for the North West club and Spurs are keen to secure a £10million move for the 22 year old.

Spurs’ midfield options have been limited recently with Sandro remaining on the sidelines and Scott Parker struggling for form.

The North London club are struggling to make the Champions League this season and so will look to sign impressive youngsters rather than experienced European stars.
