Dawson avoids additional ban
Tottenham Hotspur Michael Dawson has escaped an extension to the
suspension he incurred for being sent off in the 2-1 defeat at Stoke
The 24-year-old centre-half faced a possible two-match addition to his
mandatory three-match suspension, having failed to leave the field
promptly after being red-carded for a late challenge on Mamady Sidibe.
However, an independent regulatory commission decided to issue Dawson
with a warning over his future conduct, rather than extend his ban
following a personal hearing.
Meanwhile, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has confirmed that new manager
Harry Redknapp will only have limited funds at his disposal in the
January transfer window.
He commented: "When Harry took the job we had a conversation about the current squad and we agreed we have the talent here.
"One or two small changes maybe but generally we have the talent here.
"There may be limited transfer funds available in January, but the main
transfers take place in the summer. Harry's confident and I'm confident
that we can move up the table."
