Tottenham’s creative midfielder Luka Modric has ruled out Tottenham’s big names jumping ship if the club miss out on a Champions League spot this term.
Tottenham are likely to receive offers for Modric, flying winger Gareth Bale and Rafael van der Vaart over the summer. However, the classy Croatian playmaker made his feelings clear in the Daily Mail “I don’t think we are going to break up, the players have long contracts and we are really enjoying playing here.”
This news will come as a relief to Spurs fans who will be delighted if Modric, Bale and Van der Vaart are all still playing their football at The Lane once the transfer window shuts in August.
25 year old Modric reaffirmed his stance by saying, “We are coming and have a chance to be one of the best teams if we stay together, which I think we will.”
Modric believes that Spurs’ performances in Europe’s top club competition should make people stand up and take notice of what they have done this season, “We have shown we can compete with the top teams like AC Milan and Inter Milan and I think we deserve to be recognised as one of the big clubs in Europe.”
Tonight’s match with Real Madrid may seem a foregone conclusion, but Modric is confident that whatever the outcome there are plenty more good times to come for Spurs.
