Arsenal have received a transfer blow in their chase for Juventus star Alvaro Morata, with the striker expected to return to Real Madrid at the end of the campaign, according to reports from talkSPORT.
Morata was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer of 2014, but the Serie A champions managed to persuade him to join them at the Juventus Stadium.
Prior to his switch to the Bianconeri, Real inserted a £21million buy-back clause into Morata’s contract which will allow them to bring back their former player in the future.
But according to Spanish source AS, it could be as soon as next summer due to the off-field problems surrounding France international striker Karim Benzema, who has been involved in blackmail allegations.
This will come as a blow to the Gunners, who were reportedly once again tracking the 23-year-old at the tail end of last season.
Morata made 46 appearances in all competitions last term, scoring 15 goals.
