Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has accused the press of twisting his words, following an attack on the Frenchman by Chelsea midfielder Michael Ballack.

Ballack was unhappy that Wenger had branded his side as 'efficient' and went on to say:"I think he always says this when he loses. When he loses he always finds an excuse.

"But football is not possession on the ball or playing nice passes. Good football is winning games and that's what we do when we play against them."

Wenger had stated after the 2-0 weekend defeat at Stamford Bridge: "We did not get a demonstration of football, but they were efficient and that is what made the difference."

However, the Frenchman has now voiced his opinion that is quotes were being misrepresented, adding:"I was full of compliment and praise for Chelsea after the game.

"I find it completely unfair from the press that you take one word from my press conference to turn it.

"You did that at Aston Villa, you did that at Chelsea. If you look at the intent of my press conference it was positive to the opponent."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
