According to reports in the Daily Mail, Rio Ferdinand is strongly considering a move to China.

The 33-year-old’s contract expires at the end of next season and although Manchester United have hinted that a new deal will be in the offing, the wages on offer in the Chinese league could well be too good to turn down.

Ferdinand is enjoying a good run in the United team and has looked like his former self with some excellent displays that has contributed greatly to the Red Devils challenging for the title this season. However Rio is under no illusions that with Chris Smalling and Phil Jones pushing for the centre half berths those first team opportunities may well prove to be limited in the coming seasons.

The money on offer in China is obscene and previous reports suggest that Guizhou Renhe would be prepared to pay Ferdinand close to £250k a week to tempt him away from Old Trafford – a deal that could represent one last big pay day for the United defender.
