The Reds striker spent last season on loan away from Anfield at AC Milan, and has been told he has no place in Merseyside ahead of the new season. Jurgen Klopp is keen to get rid of the forward, and get his £80,000-a-week wages off the books.
However, its those wages that are currently the issue for Chievo, with club president Luca Campedelli concerned they won’t be able to financially attract the controversial forward:
“Dreaming doesn’t cost anything. At the moment, it does remain a dream because we know that it would be very difficult to pull off such a move.” said Campedelli.
“We must take into account the obvious difficulties in economic terms, but it is something we are looking at.”
Balotelli has only played one season in the Premier League with Liverpool, making 16 appearances and scoring just the once, a late winner v Spurs. He was loaned out by Brendan Rodgers, the man who brought him to Anfield, before the Northern Irishman was sacked midway through last season.
On loan in Milan, the 25-year-old again only managed 1 league goal, this time from 20 appearances.
