Rafael van der Vaart

Tottenham forward Rafael van der Vaart has rubbished rumours that he could leave the club, and has admitted that he is motivated to help the side finish in the top four in 2011-12.

The Netherlands international has been linked with a move away from White Hart Lane this summer, with his wife working in Germany and a switch to the Bundesliga in the pipeline.

Former club Hamburg and Champions League qualifiers Schalke have both confirmed an interest in the talented playmaker, however the attacker has stated that he will not be leaving north London this summer.

“My place is at Spurs, I want to win the title with this club. Each summer my name appears in the transfer market," he stated to The Sun.

“The race for the top four will be a total war from the very first day.

“The new coach has good plans for me and this is important. I have heard excellent reports about Andre Villas-Boas.

“We have very good attacking and if AVB imposes an offensive system the team could be a real spectacle," he concluded.

Villas-Boas has previously stated that he feels Van der Vaart is part of his plans, and the player's future would be up to the club.
