Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has admitted that he is not thinking about his future at the club, with increased rumours stating that he could leave Old Trafford this summer.
The Red Devils are through to the FA Cup final after beating Everton 2-1 yesterday, with the potential for silverware set to salvage the Red Devils’ season.
Links in the British press today have stated that Jose Mourinho is closing in on a move to United this summer, which would see Van Gaal shown the exit door a year earlier than initially planned.
Despite the speculation, the experienced trainer has stated that his focus is solely on the remainder of the current campaign.
“I’m not looking at anything other than this competition,” BBC Sport quote Van Gaal as saying.
“We live in the present. For the future, I discuss this with my board.”
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss has failed to bring an attractive brand of football to the club and there are thoughts that a new manager could revitalise the team’s fortunes.
United are set to spend big this summer, whether they qualify for the Champions League or not.
