Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal could well be set to extend his contract, with the Dutch maestro putting his retirement plans on hold according to The Daily Star.
The former Bayern Munich and Barcelona trainer took over from David Moyes before last season and has led the Old Trafford club back into Champions League football.
After a summer of reinforcing the squad, there are high hopes that the Red Devils can put forward a title challenge this season also.
Van Gaal’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2017 and the experienced coach has previously stated that he will take the decision to walk away from the game at that point.
However, the latest report suggests that the Dutchman could be convinced to stay on at Old Trafford beyond his current contract.
Van Gaal led his side to a 3-1 win over Liverpool at home yesterday in arguably the team’s best performance of the current season so far.
