Van Gaal targeting run of wins after Everton rout

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has praised his side after they dispatched Everton 3-0 yesterday and is targeting a run of wins over the next coming weeks.

The Old Trafford side had a point to prove after being beaten by Arsenal in their last game but came out and dominated against an able Toffees side at Goodison Park.

Goals from Morgan Schneiderlin, Ander Herrera and Wayne Rooney marked victory for the Red Devils, who are back on track in their title challenge.

Van Gaal praised his players following the game and had one eye on the midweek Champions League clash against CSKA Moscow already.

“I am very happy with the response of my players and I am very proud of the performance,” he told the United official website.

I think it was an excellent performance and maybe it is the start of many, many victories.

“You need a bit of luck as a manger but we trained the strategy, we are always training the strategy, and we had a lot of meetings because I could not evaluate the game against Arsenal.

“I had to wait until the players had come back from the international break, so it was very intense for the players but it worked.”

United have recruited heavily over the summer and as such are widely expected to be challenging for major silverware this season.

Van Gaal has steadied the ship following a tumultuous time under David Moyes, with the Red Devils looking like a side capable of being crowned English champions this season.
