Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is set to hand debuts for new signings Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw against Queens Park Rangers this weekend, Daily Star reports.
The United manager could however be without defender Phil Jones, who limped off during England’s 2-0 away win over Switzerland in the Euro 2016 Qualifiers.
The injury to Jones will therefore offer an opportunity for Rojo, who hasn’t featured due to a delay in the Argentine’s work permit.
But after being granted a work permit last Friday, Rojo is set to replace Jones as one of the three centre-backs in Van Gaal’s 3-5-2 system.
Jones has started in all three of United’s Premier League fixtures, but with Johnny Evans also returning from injury, Van Gaal now has options in defence after a lacklustre beginning to the season.
£30million wonderkid Luke Shaw is also likely to make his Man United debut this weekend after returning from a hamstring injury which had him sideline for one month.
The former Southampton star was ordered by Van Gaal to regain his fitness after the World Cup, and should be deployed on the left-wing back role in the manager’s preferred formation.
