AC Milan star Mario Balotelli is demanding £5million-a-year salary in order to join Arsenal this summer, Daily Mail reports.
Although Arsene Wenger has stated he is not looking to sign another striker, the fiery Italian is still linked with the Gunners after being allowed to leave the San Siro.
Arsenal’s interest in Balotelli waned after talks progressed to sign French forward Loic Remy, however the QPR star is now set to undergo a medical to join rivals Liverpool instead.
Therefore the Gunners have reconsidered the former Manchester City attacker, however like their move for Sami Khedira, Balotelli’s salary demands could prove to be an obstacle.
The 23-year-old is looking to be paid a minimum of £100,000-a-week (after tax), with Arsenal also needing to pay AC Milan a fee in the region of £16million for his services next season.
The Gunners have already signed Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez for £32million, but have been heavily linked with strikers around Europe to ease the load off lone forward Olivier Giroud.
Balotelli had a career-high 18 goals in all competitions last season before featuring for Italy in the World Cup.
