Manchester United defender Guillermo Varela has come out to voice his concerns at manager Louis van Gaal after he blocked his loan exit, Daily Star reports.
The 22-year-old was heavily linked with a departure during the summer as Serie A outfits Genoa were keen to acquire his services for the remainder of the season.
However, Van Gaal refused to sanction his sale given that a number of full-backs in the squad are still sidelined through injury.
Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Luke Shaw, and Marco Rojo are all unavailable for selection while Matteo Darmian only recently returned to full fitness following a collision against Southampton star Shane Long last week.
Varela was hoping a switch elsewhere can provide him with much needed game time as he has been unable to hold down a regular role since his arrival back in the summer of 2013.
“At my age it’s so important to play more minutes,” he said.
“But I’m also aware that its important and a good thing if your coach wants you to stay and counts on me.”
The Uruguayan right-back only managed to register two Premier League appearances so far this term, while featuring another one time in the Champions League as well as the FA Cup.
