The Football Association have asked Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock to explain the comments he made after his side's FA Cup fifth round clash against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Warnock was critical of referee Kevin Friend and his assistant Trevor Massey following the 2-2 draw at Selhurst Park.
Stilian Petrov headed home an 87th-minute equaliser, but only after the visitors had been awarded a corner when the ball had clearly come off Villa forward Nathan Delfouneso.
After the final whistle, Warnock had said:"We've got a Premiership referee and we've got Mr Massey who was laughing his head off all day with the flag.
"The ball comes off Delfouneso and neither of them wanted to make a decision. They wait and wait to see which way to give it. Then, a Premier League team are losing 2-1, so we'll give it to them. That's a disgrace.
"He should be banned for weeks, Mr Massey, because all he could do was smile."
Following the Palace manager's outburst, the FA has said: "We've asked Neil Warnock for his observations regarding his media comments after Crystal Palace's match against Aston Villa. He has until February 23 to respond."
