Manchester City have been boosted by the news that Sergio Aguero is set to make an early comeback from his knee injury, Mirror reports.
The Argentine international is currently City’s top scorer with 19 goals, but has missed the last three weeks with an injury he picked up against Everton.
Aguero was not expected to feature again for the Premier League champions until the end of January, however it seems that the former Atletico Madrid star is recovering ahead of schedule.
City boss Manuel Pellegrini will be cautious in rushing the 26-year-old back, as it could risk Aguero being sidelined even longer if the injury was to reoccur.
The Citizens are struggling in the attacking department with injuries, as Edin Dzeko and Stevan Jovetic are also both on the treatment table.
Dzeko is currently nursing a calf problem, while Jovetic is having trouble recovering from a hamstring strain.
Currently trailing Chelsea by three points, the return of Aguero could prove decisive in the title race when the two sides meet at Stamford Bridge on January 31.
