Watford agree £2million fee for Ligue 1 defender

Watford are closing in on announcing the signing of Ivorian defender Brice Dja Djedje, according to Sky Sports.

The Hornets have agreed on a £2million transfer fee for the Marseille defender, who featured 19 times in Ligue 1 last season.

With the fee agreed, Dja Djedje will now discuss personal terms ahead of a medical with the Premier League club. Juan Camilo Zuniga, Jerome Sinclair and Christian Kabasele have all joined already this summer.

As has Isaac Success, who became the club’s record transfer, costing roughly £12.5million.

New boss Walter Mazzarri is preparing for his first season in charge of the Hornets, taking over this summer after Quique Sanches Flores departed at the end of last season.

The Ivorian international could be an official Watford player by this week now the £2million fee has been agreed.

That means the 25-year-old should be in contention to face Southampton at St Mary’s on August 13th, their first game of the new Premier League season.
