Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney could start Saturday's Premier League clash with Wigan Athletic on the substitute's bench.
The England international has not featured for United or England since coming on as a substitute in last month's 2-2 draw with West Brom.
However, boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: "I don't think he'll start tomorrow but maybe he'll be on the bench. But he'll certainly play on Wednesday against Rangers."
Meanwhile, United are reportedly on the verge of completing the capture of Danish goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard from Aalesund. The 26-year-old is rumoured to be in England for a medical.
United are set to pay around £3.5million for Lindegaard who they have identified as a long-term replacement for veteran shot-stopper Edwin van der Sar.
