It is believed that West Brom are on the verge of confirming Steve Clarke as their new boss, according to The Sun.

The Hawthorns club are looking for a new man to lead them forward after losing Roy Hodgson to the England job, with a plethora of candidates linked to the vacant role.

However, it is thought that Clarke may well be appointed and unveiled in the next 24 hours, after a number of negotiations and discussions with Baggies decision makers.

Clarke has been a coach for 14 years, and has served as Jose Mourinho's number two at Chelsea; he left Liverpool this week following the appointment of Brendan Rodgers.

Baggies fans are said to be sceptical over the hire of a man with no managerial experience, but Clarke is thought to be the only name in the frame currently.
