Danny Welbeck and Kyle Walker did not train with their England team-mates on Monday ahead of the forthcoming friendlies.
Details as to why they did not train with the main group of players are still sketchy but it is thought that Walker picked up an injury during Tottenham’s end-of-season friendly against Jamaica last Thursday.
Both players were able to work in the gym, however, and may well be fit to play some part against Ireland on Wednesday, with a clash against the mighty Brazil just four days later.
The rest of the squad trained at St George’s Park on Monday morning, including Manchester City trio Joe Hart, Joleon Lescott and James Milner, who had only just returned from their club’s tour to the USA.
Gary Cahill, Ashley Cole and Frank Lampard were also on tour in America with Chelsea and they also took part in training, as Roy Hodgson looks to find the right combination of players to mount a serious challenge for the trophy in Brazil next summer.
